Converting a Multiplex Cinema
Having made a huge investment in converting a cinema into their new home, Calvary Assembly Church wondered if Phase One would have enough appeal and presence to make that critical first impression and function well, servicing a growing congregation.
An envisioning session helped develop concepts to make the public spaces inspirational, functional, usable and very memorable. Within this contemporary church, two crosses beckon – one outside on a screen wall creating a way for the café to reach out to the community and one on the interior creating a hearth and home-like open pavilion. Other public space amenities planned include play pods allowing families to socialize, flexible seating for small and large group engagement, and a gallery alongside multiple opportunities to pray, connect, serve and play.
